An extract from a letter to parents from Notts County Council today confirming what I said at the weekend about delays to opening schools.
The actions of Union leaders who are supposed to be looking out for teachers are actually causing schools to lose control over their own planning, and they are literally threatening heads with legal action if they disobey.
So many teachers have worked hard to get schools ready, and some want to open and welcome kids back. This should be a decision for schools, who are best placed to know their communities and what is possible in their setting. That's what Government and the Council have tried to do, but Unions have held Headteachers to ransom.
Not right and not fair!!
