The Prime Minister has announced the UK's first ever tourism sector deal, reaffirming the UK's global role as a key player in the industry.
The new deal will revolutionise the way data is used by the sector, through the creation of new Tourism Data Hub. The hub will collate regularly updated data showing the latest trends and spends, allowing businesses to better target overseas visitors.
The deal will also support the creation of an additional 10,000 apprenticeships for people building their careers in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The tourism sector is worth £68 billion each year to the UK economy and employs around 1.6 million people across the UK.
Around Mansfield there are so many brilliant attractions including Clumber Park, Rufford Abbey Country Park, Newstead Abbey, Go Ape, Sherwood Pines and Center Parcs. We've also got great kids attractions, such as Wheelgate Park and White Post Farm, and some top class golf clubs too!
I hope this big boost for tourism can form part of plans for our area too, as our local hotels are starting to be built. It's a huge opportunity for us to make the most of our history and geography. There is a lot of potential with Sherwood Forest right on our doorstep.
