Really positive news that the Housing Minister has confirmed £2.1M funding to help vulnerable rough sleepers in the East Midlands. As well as providing Somewhere Safe to Stay rough sleeping centres, where people on the streets can access professional help and guidance, the funding will also provide specialist support for the most vulnerable rough sleepers – including those with mental health or substance misuse issues.
By providing specialist support and taking a holistic approach, we will be a step closer to achieving the Government’s aim of halving rough sleeping by 2022, as set out in the Rough Sleeping Strategy.
I’m pleased that the Government has continued to show commitment to helping rough sleepers across the East Midlands. I’ll continue to work on finding ways that we can better support rough sleepers across Mansfield and Warsop, but this is a positive step towards ending rough sleeping for good.
