After expressing his concern about the reckless actions of the M25 protesters, Ben Bradley MP has welcomed the news that the Transport and Home Secretaries have taken legal action against the protesters.
During an episode of Cross Question on LBC, Ben Bradley MP declared that the protesters “want locking up”. He said that “It’s not just about inconvenience, it’s literally putting lives at risk.”
In light of this, Ben is pleased that an emergency injunction was applied for last night that will allow the police to remand repeat offenders into custody for longer, as well as increasing the prison sentences and fines they could face. A judge granted the injunction overnight which will become effective later today.
The Insulate Britain activists who have brought large sections of the M25 to a standstill are breaking the law, undermining their cause and putting motorists at risk.
Commenting, Ben Bradley MP said:
“I’m relieved that Government is taking tough action on the M25 protesters. It’s not right that these demonstrators should be able to wreak havoc on our roads and disrupt thousands of people’s journeys. They are putting lives in danger and their actions must have consequences.
“I am sure my constituents across Mansfield and Warsop will welcome this robust response from Government.”
