Yesterday, I visited Little Beauty Barn on Little Barn Lane where I met Sue and her team, including a student completing a work experience placement, a new Apprentice and a newly qualified member of the team. It's a great example of how local apprenticeships can offer exactly what both a business and local young people need.
Three quarters of a million people are taking apprenticeships across England, including 1500 people each year here in Mansfield.
I'm a huge advocate of vocational and work-based learning, as I explained in my article on ConservativeHome this week, and it's great to see improving relationships with local businesses and Vision West Notts College.
As a Government and locally, we need to do more to explain the benefits, to simplify the process and to support more apprentices at all sorts of different levels, right up to degree level and higher apprenticeships.
Thanks for inviting me and good luck for the future!
