As we get close to polling day, sadly I'm seeing increasing levels of personal attacks against me from opposition campaigners on social media and in literature. I get that the stakes are high, but it's a shame that people feel the need to get personal.
Of course the character of party leaders has come under great scrutiny during this election, but here locally we will all have to work together in the future to do what's best for Mansfield and those relationships are important. We're not here just to slag each other off!
I'm proud to say that throughout this campaign I have never made personal or critical remarks about any other local candidate. My team campaign with a smile on our faces and a positive attitude. We focus on the things that we can control and our plans for the future, not on bringing down others.
I have a great deal of respect for anyone who puts themselves forward for election. It can be a difficult, lonely and often thankless task, so I won't be slating my local opposition candidates no matter what is thrown at me. I hope if I'm re-elected we can all work together for the good of this community!
