On Friday this week Government announced the first year of funding boost as part of the £14bn investment in per pupil funding for our schools. As well as covering pension costs from this year to help schools out immediately and increasing special educational needs funding by £700m, Government has announced the school-by-school increases in per pupil funding for next September. Some schools in Mansfield will receive as much as a 11% increase in funding, with the average increase being roughly 5%. Brilliant news!
The biggest winners from this in percentage terms are Primary schools in some of the most deprived parts of our District: Eastlands Juniors, Crescent Primary, Netherfield Juniors, Birklands Primary and Church Vale school all have increases of more than 9%, with Asquith, St Peters and Flying High Academy (amongst others) all receiving above average rises.
