'Leading Mansifeld politiicans spent thousand on party-political Facebook adverts'
Bit of an odd "investigation" but something I wanted to address. Yes, most politicians use advertising - in the paper, on TV and, in the 21st Century, also online.
It's funded by the Conservative Party and no taxpayers money is used, just the same as any leaflets you may get through your door. As with leaflets, sometimes it's promoting a political message, other times just to share good news like our recent Town Deal.
Not sure why the fact that it's on Facebook is of any special interest. Modern world and all that!
It is just the same as taking an ad in the paper. all Facebook ads are checked and verified by Facebook, displayed with a clear message about who is funding it, the full details of my advertising are publicly available and you can block them if you don't want to see it. This is in line with all of the correct rules and procedures, and I will repeat that they are privately funded with no taxpayer's money used.
I don't really see what needs to be investigated about politicians using legitimate means to publicise things...
