The Education Secretary has announced a new package of support for employers so they can provide industry placements as part of our new T Level qualifications.
T Levels are the new technical qualifications which are equivalent to A Levels and will be in place from September 2020. A unique part of a T Level will be the completion of a high-quality industry placement where students will build the knowledge and skills they need in a workplace environment.
We have announced a new package of support for employers including guidance on offering tailored placements, a £7 million pilot scheme to cover placement costs such as equipment and protective clothing, and support for employers to make it as easy as possible for them to offer placements.
This is good news because practical learning and work experiences is incredibly important. The completion of a high-quality industry placement will be at the heart of every T Level, giving students an opportunity to develop their practical and technical skills in a role directly relevant to their vocational course.
