New deal for care leavers

April 11, 2019

Our Conservative County Council are offering a new deal for care leavers - thought to be the first of its kind of the country - which will ensure they get extra support when they leave the care system.

The stats show that children in care can struggle to adapt when they leave and levels of homelessness, for example, among care leavers is far too high, whilst academic progress and career outcomes are far lower than for the general population.

It's great to see that the County Council (who are responsible for supporting them as children as their 'Corporate Parents') will offer more support with housing costs, in finding employment and even through university if that's what they choose to do, levelling the playing field for young people who have had a tough start in life.
