Today is World Book Day and I am supporting the national 'Share a Story' campaign, encouraging parents and carers to read with their children for ten minutes a day.
I enjoyed meeting with the organisers of the national book tokens scheme earlier this week to talk to them about the benefits of reading together.
Figures show that reading to your kids every day (or most days) will lead to 3/4 of them choosing to read for pleasure when they are 8-13, which is firmly linked with good mental health and communication skills, as well as higher attainment at school.
Sharing stories together, at home or school, in the library or in the park, on a bus or train - anywhere, anytime - has long-lasting effects on a child's future. It's also a great way to bond with your kids and it provides them with reassurance, so why not #ShareAStory on #WorldBookDay
