Earlier in the week, I mentioned some news about the Government providing more help to support teachers and thought I'd expand on this positive announcement!
The Department for Education has introduced positive new plans and investment in teacher recruitment and retention this week. We all know teachers are under pressure with increasing levels of demand on time and budgets, so I very much welcome a strategy that seeks to invest in great teachers.
That includes making it easier to apply and get in to teaching, more training and support in the first years in the job, more off-timetable opportunities to take advantage of learning & development, better financial rewards to stay in the job and a chance to take out some of the more time consuming elements like data entry.
We’ll also see a simplified system of accountability for schools, along with Ofsted’s new proposals to look at the whole school environment and not just academic results in their inspections.
