It was a pleasure to host local Mansfield organisation National Association for Professional Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT) in Westminster today. They presented to many national businesses new safety regulations which aim to better protect people from risks related to substandard electrical maintenance were discussed.
It was fantastic to see the hard work pay off for those who had lobbied for these changes as the new regulations that are going to be put in place were explained. With 25% of all properties in social housing not having all of the government recommended electrical safety features and 10% of all fires being caused by problems with electrical distribution, these new regulations are clearly needed.
Mike Andrews from NAPIT, whom I introduced to speak outlined the need for new regulations. Chris Bielby, chair of the electrical Safety Round Table and Ryan Dempsey, chair of the Electrical Safety Round table Social Housing Sub-Group also spoke.
Really great to see local employers here making waves in their sector.
