I've had a very education focussed week so far!
I met with former Education Secretary, Lord Baker, along with other colleagues (see David Evennett MP pictured), to discuss vocational training and skills. We also had a chat about University Technical Colleges, which is something I'd like to see in Mansfield - you can read more about this here.
I've attended two sittings with the Education Select Committee this week. The Committee held a round table with 3rd sector organisations about SEND funding as part of our ongoing inquiry into these services. It will form a long process of speaking to local authorities, charities, parents and other stakeholders about the positives and the many issues within the system.
It seems very clear that what level of support you get is a postcode lottery dependent on what decisions have been taken by Councils over recent years. I look forward to learning more about this and submitting useful recommendations to Government in the new year.
Committee meetings took place today and yesterday, which you can watch in full at https://parliamentlive.tv/Guide
