I'm really pleased to say that I've been elected on to the Education Select Committee, a formal UK Parliament group that scrutinises and proposes policy on everything from early years and nursery, to schools, to further and higher education and more.
You can see the full work programme and enquiries that the Committee are working on by clicking here.
I'm excited to have this new platform and opportunity to have a say on education and skills that are so important here in Mansfield and across the UK.
This morning I sat in on my first meeting of the Education Select Committee. I was only able to observe today because I don't officially get approved by the House of Commons Committee until in time for next week's meeting, but it was great to see how the Committee works.
Even better, this week the Education Select Committee took evidence from Pepper the robot, who is based at Middlesex University and working with students with the aim of using the technology to support health and social care in the future (anyone seen Big Hero 6? A bit like that). Amazing to see Artificial Intelligence in action...
Below is a video of me briefly discussing the work of the Committee, which I can't wait to get involved with.
