Ben 'gives a day to Policing' in Mansfield

September 29, 2018

Ben Bradley, MP for Mansfield and Warsop spent an afternoon with local police officers, to get a better understanding of what the day to day experience is like for the police last week.

On Thursday (27 September) The MP shadowed officers on the beat in the Town Centre, visited Police HQ and saw 999 calls being received, as well as meeting the firearms team and town wardens.

Mr Bradley praised local officers and said: “It was really positive, and actually really eye opening to be able to spend some time tagging along with the police, to see what it’s actually like on the streets with them, and what they have to put up with and deal with on a day to day basis.”

“It was really positive to be able to meet with not just senior police, but with ‘bobbies on the beat’, to find out what it’s actually like dealing with mamba on the ground. Incidentally, whilst we were out in the town centre the officers I was with had to respond to a mamba incident, so I saw first-hand the strain it puts on our police.”

“I want to say a massive thankyou to the local Police for having me for the afternoon and letting me see what you deal with on a daily basis. I will continue to support you wherever and however I can.”

Neighbourhood Police Inspector Nick Butler said: “It’s great that Mr Bradley wanted to take the time out to actually experience first-hand what it’s like for police officers in this current climate, the challenges they face on a daily basis and how hard they work to keep people as safe as possible. We were really impressed with his attitude and his willingness to get stuck in and we hope he has taken away a lot from the experience.”
